I am an educator with over 11 years of experience in the ELA classroom. I went back to school to become a teacher when I was 38. I had been unhappy about how my oldest son’s education was approached, and I didn’t want to take someone’s word that he was unable to learn due to his diagnosis of ADHD and autism. While substitute teaching, I realized that too often students were not being taught in a way that was accessible to all, and with this this knowledge, I went back to school to become a teacher.
Originally, the idea was to become a high school English teacher; however, I obtained my middle school certification and have been in the middle school classroom almost my entire career.
In this blog, I will share with you my personal research, ideas, and more on teaching ELA in the middle school classroom. Come along and join me as I teach ELA in the middle.
