August is gone in a flash

I blinked, and August disappeared. I’m not sure what happened, but one day I was starting August, and the next, it was gone in a flash. Labor day is behind us, and I noticed that the leaves are in prep mode to change.

I do apologize for not posting, but in my defense, school life this year has been busy. I don’t think I have ever had so many meetings. Every Wednesday a meeting. Every week, an IEP or 504 meeting. Daily it is something, and I’m giving up my classroom for one planning period each day to allow a class to have a place to actually have their class.

This past weekend I spent a few hours thinking about how I want to move forward with keeping up with my blog and sewing business. I still enjoy sewing, but I’ve been too exhausted to do much. At work today, I realized that I was going to have to come home today and complete some writing, planning, and prepping for this weekend. Tomorrow will be a long day as I have meetings, and then I have to work the volleyball game. Thursday? I have meetings plus a doctor’s appointment. These long days do not make commitments in the evenings easy. Planning is the only way to purposely achieve anything.

Planning? Why does that feel familiar? Teachers know how to plan. They also need to be adaptable to changing plans. It’s just when it all seems to be falling apart that we learn to back up and punt.

This evening is me backing up and punting. I’m setting a timer and planning out next weekend. I have to get it prepped and ready to go.
