It was a crazy week. Not because of anything that happened, but rather because we had a house with pink eye and sickness.

Wednesday, I was off to take my son to his MRI and had planned to be able to get through all of this, plus the MRI, and have a little bit of time to rest because I had started on Monday with facial pain that I knew was sinus issues. When we went to get the grandbabies up to get ready that morning, I took one look at my granddaughter and told my son, “You’ll need to get in touch with her doctor’s office.” Her right eye was swollen and oozing. “Pink eye,” I told him. By the time we got in touch with the doctor’s office, both eyes were infected. She looked rough. Dark red circles around her eyes and matted, crusty eye lashes, and many tears flowing from the infected eyes.

As a mom, I’ve seen worse, but this looked typical of what we were seeing at the school. It seemed to be spreading all over. Whatever virus that was going around, those who ended up rubbing their nose and then their eyes were getting it, and she had been coughing and had a runny nose for a few days.

By that night, my sinus issues had caused me to start running a fever and my eyes were starting to water and feel like they had something in them. The next morning I had puffy eyes with some ooze and no voice. As a matter of fact, I’m still struggling to regain my voice. I’ve spent a few days trying to be quiet and not talk. It’s helped, but not nearly enough. I’m hoping that by Monday I will be fully recovered. Of course, we also have the other grandbaby who came down with the pink eye over the weekend. Oh well!

I’m just over here waiting for Spring Break.
