When it comes to relaxing after a stressful day or week, I turn to my favorite hobby: sewing. I was taught to sew by my grandmother when I was nine years old. She taught me using an old Singer pedal sewing machine. No electricity required. Just foot power.

I’m not sure why, but there is something relaxing about watching a project come together. The up and down motion of the needle as it makes its way through the fabric to bind everything together is mesmerizing.

I’ve made clothes for myself, my son, and my grandchildren. I’m always trying to find a new pattern to try or an interesting fabric to try.

In fact, I love sewing and textiles so much, I started a business doing what I love. K and R Styles. It has been an opportunity to showcase the things that I love to do.
