I hope that you are off to a restful Christmas break. This school year has been one for the books for me, as it has been filled with so many firsts. From medical leaves to students who will ONLY behave for me. Repeat that last line and you’ll understand the frustration for my colleagues. Yes, I had to go on medical leave. Yes, I have a rather unruly bunch that many teachers require there to be 3 adults or more in the room with them.

My last day of the year, though, had me leaving unexpectedly soon. My son was in an accident on his motorcycle. A semi-truck turned left in front of him, leaving him nowhere to go but into him. He’s lucky to be alive. No broken bones other than a rib fracture. He has a collapsed lung, concussion, memory loss, some scrapes, and lots of bruises. I left the school without grabbing anything to plan for next year. I suppose I should just focus on the here and now.

Enjoy your break. Celebrate with family and friends. School will still be there when you return.
